RECORDING UPDATE This past June we went to the wonderful WGBH studios in Boston to record the rhythm section. Under the direction of Gonzalo Grau, the drums, congas, timbales, minor percussion, keyboards and bass were recorded successfully. The musicians, Eric Doob, Ernesto Diaz, Karina Colis, Manolo Mairena, Rebecca Cline and Alex Alvear spent three days recording 13 tracks and the tracks are fantastic. Later in July, saxophonists Jared Sims and Felipe Salles recorded the sax tracks in a record-breaking session in New York. Both sessions were done under the direction of producer Gonzalo Grau. So, slowly but surely, this project is moving forward. We have reached a temporary standstill because the campaign has only managed to raise one third of the production costs. That is why I am again asking for your support to help finalize this long-overdue album. By support I don’t mean a charitable donation but rather a pre-sales advance, an investment that will give you something back at every level of contribution. If you have not done so already, please invest in the campaign by going to:.... ..http://microfundo.mymondomix.com/alexalvear/mangoblue...... If you cannot afford to make a financial contribution YOU CAN STILL HELP. Just simply share the link above with your music-loving Facebook friends and post the link right on their FB wall, and ask them to do the same..... In less than three months ..Facebook Fan base.. has grown to almost 550 people. Imagine if everyone contributed at the minimum level. By now, the campaign would be completely covered... Please help in any way you can. .... If you still have not become a fan, please go to:.... ..www.facebook.com/alexalvear...... THANKS SO MUCH,.... .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ...... .. .. .. .. .. .. ...... A LITTLE ABOUT ME I've been blessed with an array of musical experiences and from having shared with wonderful musicians that I feel I'm another grain of sand in this infinite ocean of sound and feeling. .... I play bass, sing, compose and arrange. I've been playing for over 20 years from Rock to Afro Cuban Folklore, from Salsa to Acid Jazz and Funk, from Jazz to Urban Ecuadorian Folklore, experimenting and getting turned on by the great music this world has to offer. Born in Quito Ecuador and currently bouncing from Boston to New York to Ecuador. I've had the honor of working with some big names and with many others who should be, trying always to find my own voice and place in the world. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. -
