.. “Alukomarai” is a play on words in Thai that roughly translates as “I don’t know” or “whatever.” When asked what kind of music the group plays, people often get that very same answer. .. Formed in Chiang Mai in 2009, Alukomarai is an evolving conversation between five musicians with diverse backgrounds (Thailand, Japan, Germany, USA, Norway) and varied influences (jazz, rock, experimental, funk, metal, classical). The different members continue to live around the world and pursue other musical projects that feed and inspire those periods when the group comes together. .. In early 2010, Alukomarai made its first tour of Southeast Asia, performing in 30 different venues from the North of Thailand to KL, Malaysia with the support of Alliance Française, Chiang Rai..... Alukomarai takes their audience on a journey into a high-energy world of progressive jazz, centered upon spontaneous improvisational dialogue but anchored in intuitive harmonicstructures.
