But in much of the world (such as USA, Italy and Canada), the date chosen is February 14, Valentine's Day (St. Valentine, for some, or Valentine's day for the Americans), a saint devoted to the idea oflove.
According to legend, Emperor Claudius II was more interested in his army and in war than in family life, and he was convinced that the single, without wives or children, were better soldiers than married and they would not hesitate in battlefield.
Both were true, that the emperor was so far as to dictate a law forbidding marriage. Saint Valentine, however, defied the emperor and continued to celebrate marriages in secret, to be discovered, arrested and executed.
The cards we know today were first made ??around 1800 and some were very ornate and decorated with birds and flowers.
Not all countries celebrate Valentine's Day as we do. In Italy, people do a great banquet on Feb. 14. In England, children sing songs to receive sweets and candies, fruit of his parents. And in Denmark, people send pressed flowers to each other, called "snowflakes."
In Japan, the date was introduced in 1936 and the custom on this day is women presentearem their loved ones with boxes of chocolates. . But what really counts is the intent and there is no denying that life is a little sweeter with these declarations of love ...
But here among us, every day is a day to say "I love you!"
I believe in eternal love, those who follow us for life, like time and love to merge into a single element, making it immutable, indestructible.
