After a fair amount of mail regarding lyrics and what on earth i'm going on about all the time i thought i might share and post the words to the 'These Waters Ep'. And while i was at it i thought i'd pop Three Tree Town on here as well.

la la la, so now you have no excuses when i ask you all to sing:)

    The Wolves..

Falling from high places, falling through lost spaces,
Now that we're lonely, now that there's nowhere to go.
Watching from both sides, these clock towers burning up,
I lost my time here, i lost my patience with it all.

And we lost faith, in the arms of love.

Where you been hiding lately, where you been hiding from the news?
Because we've been fighting lately, we've been fighting with the wolves.
    With the wolves.
    Red tongues and hands.

Falling from high places, falling through lost spaces,
Now that we're lonely, now that we're so far from home.
Watching from both sides, these towers been tumbling down,
I lost my mind here, I lost my patience with the lord.

And we lost faith, oh in the arms of love

    (love love love)
Where you been hiding lately, where you been hiding from the news?
Because we've been fighting lately, we've been fighting with the wolves.
    With the wolves.
    Red tongues and hands.

Oh, we lost faith in the arms of love.

    Cloud nine..

    Shadows on the water,
From a memory that turns inside,
From the last time i saw you happier,
Than i've seen you in a long time.

And all these faces, Oh how they adore you
With every blessing, every strength of a storm.
And it seems to me it all worked out so different
Funny how distance and time they don't change at all.

So may your worries, may your worries
    Never fall to loud.
And may you stay here, may you stay here
    Happy in your own skin,
    On the ninth cloud.

    Cold to every warning,
Oh these ships that passed through, years before
And bolder now, than a brand new morning,
With the sun on your face, the bruise and the breaks of these careless arms.

So hold your body, hold your body
Strong in these winds that blind
And may you stay here, may we sit together when we're grey and old,
    On cloud nine.

This life will move you with every step outside,
    It's alright, it's alright
my arms are open wide for you
This life will move you as graceful as the tide
    It's alright, it's alright
Loosen the fears that fears that bind you.

    London..

Oh, how i wish i could drag you down here,
Pull these feet far from the ground
Because this, this city ain't no friend of mine
    Ain't no friend.

    All i can do
When the tracks stop at the final destination
    Is just push on through,
The weariness and silences of such a crowded situation here.

    All i can do
When every brick, every bar, every elegance i see, i see her face,
Is just push on, just push on through,
These embers of memories that float from the fire, from the fire of this place.

So don't give up on me now,
Oh these legs that'll walk me home.

Because it's only concrete and cars,
It's only sirens and missing stars,
    It's only whiskey and disregard
In the smallest hours here, when i feel alone.

    All i can do
when these lights, they haunt me like orchids in a graveyard,
Is just just push on, just push on through
These faces of dust and stone,
The dirt and bone of loss.

So don't give up on me now,
Oh these legs that'll walk me home.

Because it's only concrete and cars,
It's only sirens and missing stars,
    It's only whiskey and disregard
In the smallest hours here, when i feel alone.

..and i hope, Paris is as beautiful as i've been told
and that everything you do is galvanised in gold.

    These Waters..

I saw red and yellow flowers outside
The brightest sunrise than i seen in a long time.

    And through it all,
I stood and stumbled, waded through my thoughts and heart
    Yeah through it all,
I fooled and fumbled, lost to the poet's frown.
I fought the wolves of patience just to let it lie down.

See these waters they'll pull you up,
Oh if you're bolder than the darkness.
That these songs be an instrument to cut,
Spaces between the happiness and the hardness.

    Out the door,
The touch of morning, the burning of the frost
    Out the door
Strong hands to hold; good friends that i never lost.

    And what we found
Down these coves of limestone and cockle shells,
    What we found
Down these roads that wander as lost as the heart,
Is a chance to breathe again, a chance for a fresh start.

See these waters they'll pull you up,
Oh if you're bolder than the darkness.
That these songs be an instrument to cut,
Spaces between the happiness and the hardness.
Oh, spaces between the happiness and the hardness.

    Move like you want..

    I saw you earlier on,
    They were playing blues downtown
Some kind of mississippi, mississippi song
And I know I caught your eye
Because you darling, you caught mine.

So lady get down, like there's no-one else around here.

    Move like you want,
    Move like you need,
    Move like you aught to,
    Move just to please me.

Oh i saw you, watching the band play slow
    Eyes like a morning star,
In the soft of the early evening glow
And i know you were burning up inside
Because these feelings, these feelings are so hard to hide.

So lady get down, like there's no-one else around here.

    Move like you want,
    Move like you need,
    Move like you aught to,
    Move just to please me.

    The fire..

Lie here till your world stops spinning round
Lie near me till the birds start singing out
Come, show what it is to be warm:
Be my shelter and i'll be your storm.

Come, lie down till the four winds cease to blow
Lie here full of rivers that you know.
And i'll make your bones shake, the sweat we take from hearts still battered and worn.
Be my shelter and i'll be your storm.

    And we'll show the fire,
We'll show the fire how to burn.
    Yeah, we'll show the fire,
We'll show the fire how to burn.

I don't know, i don't know where you came from,
    But God's been smiling.
    I don't know, I don't know where the rain's gone
But it's been a while, been a while now.

    Three tree town.

Come in from the darkness on the edge of this three tree town.
Because it's thicker than the woods out there,
Settles harder than the cold winter ground.

Come in from the shadows of these boot black, marching clouds
    Because trouble falls like rain,
And lately it's been pouring down.

    I've seen loneliness
She wrapped me up with such tenderness
    I've seen loneliness
She tied me down in her sweet caress.

Oh come in from the confines of your own mind my dear, because worry is all you'll find there it's clear.
    And tomorrow will always come.
And tomorrow may well bring the sun.

    Yeah i've seen loneliness
She wrapped me up with such tenderness.
    And i've seen happiness
    She came round here yesterday
    In a bright blue dress..

    And we go..

  • The Plan.

    Current mood:adventurous

So along my travels recently I keep getting asked about ‘the album’.

After our little UK run of dates and the christmas holidays, I’ve been taking some time off and mixing a bit of family time with something I’ve wanted to do for a long time now which is of course, to record the album.

Over the next couple of months we’ll be working in a few studios and I’ve found a little summer house where I’d love to do some of the recordings. It’s on the edge of the moors, there’s an open fire, an endless wood, and panoramic views of the National Park. We've also got a little barn set up over at India's house which is truly delightful.

We’ll see, people keep telling me it’s impractical.
  • One Shot Not. French TV and Paris.

I keep going home and friends keep asking me where I’ve been and 9 times out of 10 I’ve been in Paris, or near Paris, or just about to go to Paris, or thinking about Paris. There’s a lot of reasons for this, but by far the most exciting is the fact that I’ve just been out there for the Franco-German TV show One Shot Not. My first TV appearance none the less

Hosted by a serious pillar of the music community Manu Katche the show will be aired on Arte TV on January the 28th. Other acts included the phenomenal Skunk Anansie, Kasabian, Pheonix, Starboard and Archie Chep and some seriously breathtaking music from Baaba Maal. Good times.
