Hi there, you don't know me but I used to live here and was just reminiscererscising about the old place. How's the perchery holding up? I'm sad to say it had terrible woodworm when I left and feared for it's future. And Dave Albiston? Is he still delivering the Milk? He used to make use of our outdoor WC every morning on his way through at 5:20am promptly everyday. Does he still do so? I hope his aim's improved, my wife used to curse the mess he'd make - especially in the winter months when the morning light was still hours away. What about Mrs Aubrey's bush at No.32? Is it still shaped like Thomas the Tank Engine? I used to enjoy watching her trim her bush etc etc. Anyway, I must dash - I'm making some homemade Bombay Mix and I think the paprika's burning. Remember me to Sandeev and Parminder will you? Toodles.

About me:

Born in Sutton Coldfield in the Midlands of the United Kingdom. Raised under the shadow of Lichfield Cathedral where father Peter played organ, conducted and was choirmaster. First schooling in Kent, the garden of England, happily moving later to an old and wobbly village home in Hertfordshire. Music and literature both present and correct on maternal and paternal sides of the family. My destiny was set. First love was and is the drums. First instrument learned was the piano. Was loaned a trumpet and liked the percussive noise the valves made, missing the actual concept by a mile. Started to teach myself drums. Learned guitar, briefly taught by a fat cow, soon to discover the many joys and mystical ways of the electric bass guitar. Wondered through school, found college and then studied music at Royal Academy of Music, London. Got the funk, joined forces with great friends to create One People. Allan (warm heart, master of harmony) now plays his guitar with Omar, Dan (short hair, first brother in rhythm) plays the drums with his heroes The Buzzcocks, La (inspired, keeper of the beard) created a band called Grand National to sing with and write for, Andy (great notes, slim build) still plays his keyboards and is great. Session land came calling and I replied playing my trusty bass guitar on recordings with the Take That, an Al Green, Global Communication, Joey Negro, Nicola Hitchcock and others. In 1995 rock land called and I joined the Jethro Tull who, following an emotional booty related incident with Willy Porter, imprisoned me until my voice broke in 2006. In that time I travelled to all the corners and edges of this good earth heading home only for watering, breeding, and the (very) occasional Jethro Tull studio recording. Much tomfoolery was had and only a very little bit of debauchery. In early 2004 Jethro Tull collaborated with Indian bansuri master Hariprasad Chaurasia and his musicians for three concerts in Dubai, UAE, and Mumbai, India in what were to become some of my most cherished musical exploits. Jamming with an Indian master takes some beating. Then along came Gary Moore. Gary Moore and my paths have crossed occasionally over the past few years. Gary attempted my rescue from the clasp of Jethro Tull in 2005 demanding, in an emotional outburst, I play the bass for him in the studio for a CD (Old New Ballads Blues). He lost it again and we found ourselves with Thin Lizzy drummer Brain Downey in Dublin, Ireland, playing live to the memory of Phil Lynott, surrounded by more Thin Lizzys for a DVD (Gary Moore - One Night In Dublin - A Tribute To Phil Lynott). Upon release from the Tull in 2006, Neil Hannon's The Divine Comedy were loitering so I launched my bass upon them all. London based Archive then ambushed me so I taught them who the daddy really is playing long and low live across continental Europe in 2007, Archive Live at The Zenith (CD) is the evidence (no overdubs). Aside from my day job applying emergency bass aid to ailing, some ageing, musical entities you will find me supplying low frequencies to recording studios, writing and recording organised sound and rhythm, sometimes with the aid of the lyrical picking and golden throat of Mr Willy Porter of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Life is good. I have met Stephanie Powers, bought basses and houses, bred, lived and loved. Jon, London (north), UK. 2008, 1st quarter.
