Nous savons que tu seras aussi détruite.
Notre musique est pour la Beauté que tu veux ignorer et pour la haine de ton évolution maudite.
Par delà l'espace et le temps, nous attends une planète, KOBAÏA. Nous connaissons ce monde depuis le jour où nous ouvrîmes les yeux, il y a des millions d'années.
Que tous ceux qui étouffent ici-bas nous suivent. Mais que l'hypocrite n'espère rien!
Terre!
Tu n'es déjà plus qu'un oubli.

Tous les chants et vocaux sont en Kobaïen, notre propre langue. La musique est assez expressive pour que vous puissiez suivre de vous-mêmes le fil du voyage.

MAGMA en 1970

Biographie

En 1969 MAGMA est fondé par Christian VANDER. Groupes et modes passent, quelques uns restent et durent. Très au delà du simple spasme musical et de l'effet de mode, MAGMA s'est imposé dès 1970 avec sa musique libérée des connivences et des clichés, musique violente, virtuose, sans pareille.

Christian VANDER, batteur et fondateur du groupe, a joué ses premières rythmiques sous la direction d' Elvin Jones, et il a grandi comme une des mémoires du jazz des années 50/60, avec sa vision propre.

Avec MAGMA, il évite la facilité et se démarque vite de ses contemporains. Musicien rigoureux, farouchement exigeant, il hypnotise dès qu'il joue ou chante, et ouvre les voies d'une polyrythmie puissante et implacable.

Les musiciens qui l'entouraient alors, sont tous aujourd'hui de grands noms de la musique contemporaine. Ils s'appellent : Jannick Top, Claude Engel, Bernard Paganotti, Didier Lockwood et le regretté Michel Graillier... A l'image d'un Miles Davis, Vander reste un grand formateur de talents.
Son attitude provocante et décalée avant l'heure, son originalité vocale, lui ont valu maints procès d'intention. Et pourtant sa musique est toujours présente, indépendante, indomptable ; vibrant aux muses de son inspiration grandiose tels John Coltrane, Igor Stravinsky ou encore Carl Orff.
Très vite, MAGMA atteint une réputation internationale , se produit dans toute l'Europe et aux USA .
Depuis les tournées s'enchaînent et le public est au rendez-vous, toujours plus nombreux. New York, Tokyo, Londres, Mexico, Moscou, Prague, vibrent à l'unisson de la musique de ce groupe culte. Trois générations d'aficionados se bousculent aujourd'hui à l'entrée de ces concerts internationaux de plus en plus fréquents et fréquentés.

Un musicien capable de ne pas être musicalement sectaire reste un phénomène rare. Un musicien libéré des structures du show-business est une exception.

It would be futile, at this point in time, to sing the praises of MAGMA; it has become a legend. In forming MAGMA in 1969, Christian VANDER initiated one of the richest creative efforts of the last 30 years. The group became successful in France very quickly and this fame soon spread abroad. One can ascribe this universality to the innate expressive force of MAGMA’s music and to the successive waves of exceptional personalities who brought so much to the endeavour...beginning with Christian VANDER, recognized worldwide as a ‘drum hero’ and as a composer of the utmost originality and expressive force.

Imagine a world, many centuries into the future, when society as we know it has decyed into chaos and degradation, voide of spiritual guidance. The colonizatin of space is well underway, and space travel has become commonplace. It is in this setting that a handful of enlightened Earth people seeking a better existence finance the construction of a private spacecraft and leave the planet in search of a new world where a new, more spiritually guided civilization can be reborn. They finally find that new home after a long and hazardous journey on the distant planet Kobaia, where the party settles and begins anew.

Magma is a concept band whose albums explain the origins and development of the new civilization on Kobaia, and their interactions with the people of Earth and other planets. All of their lyrics are sung in the language of the new civilization, 'Kobaian.' As one might expect, the music from Kobaia several hundred years from now is very unlike what we are accustomed to on twentieth century planet earth. Magma's music is very strange, beautiful, and ultimately rewarding, but it does require an open mind on the part of the listener. It is music that must be experienced fully with body, heart and soul: not simply a cerebral performance of some kind of space opera by clever musicians, but a full blown spiritual experience with the music acting as the connecting vehicle between performer and listener.
