I like fried eggs, boiled eggs with soft centres, funny lookin vegetables like romanesco and cumulus clouds but I hate stratus clouds though. Something about the debut album! MATIAS TELLEZ – TAMIAZ MELLEZ This is like setting 20 pop history DVDs to fast forward at the same time and trying to keep an eye on the whole lot. MATIAS TELLEZ Matias Tellez entered the Bergen music scene at age 14 in 2003, already then armed with a collection of songs so strong and unique that Gjøa producers Kato Ådland and HP Gundersen immediately pressed the record button. With a deep fascination for 60s psychedelia and love for his Latin-American roots, Matias Tellez – raised in Norway by musician parents from Chile – is really something else. Influenced by anything from 60s and 70s Argentinean pop groups Los Gatos and Litto Nebia, via the Brazilian Tropicalia of Os Mutantes and Caetano Veloso to the western psychedelia of people like Syd Barret and Tyrannosaurus Rex, Tellez tells his humorous and engaging stories with the most unpredictable accompaniment. The age of 15, Matias gained much attention for his performance at the Norwegian SXSW equivalent by:Larm. VG, the largest newspaper in Norway, wrote: “We..ve heard the future of Norwegian music; it..s a mixture of Mozart and Argentine seventies rock”. After years of performing, writing and recording new material, Matias Tellez released his first EP in january 07, to rave reviews. Now his debut album “Tamias Mellez” is ready and scheduled for release on Oct 1st. TAMIAS MELLEZ – produced by Kato Ådland and Matias Tellez One minute MT is out-mutating Os Mutantes the next he sounds like he's sending up the Bonzos. Its an avalanche of absolutely smashing surprises. Elevator Radio goes from quoting the wierd EXP opening of Axis:Bold as Love into an Esqivel-esque piece of Hanna Barabara-rama. Then the ghost of Gilbert O'Sullivan walks in to croon us through the beautiful ballad Boy on the Moon. There go the Beach Boys, there's the Gang of Four, here's the Kinks, all stirred into the vintage Moulinex with liberal measures of loping street funk. It's the high colour production and unstoppable energy of MT and his great band that make this record sizzle. The highlights are too many to mention, but they still stand out, even though MT always seems to be inhabiting the wilder shores of psychedelic pop. ................Try the ..BEST.. ..MySpace Editor.. and ..MySpace Backgrounds.. at ..MySpace....
