En 2003, l’association présente la première édition du festival « Nuits sonores » et réussit à faire cohabiter des musiques émergentes, quelquefois pointues, avec des courants plus populaires. Parmi les axes essentiels de développement du festival : la recherche de lieux inédits et emblématiques du patrimoine architectural de Lyon, la mise en synergie de nombreux acteurs locaux des cultures électroniques et innovatrices, l’ouverture de la ville aux créateurs et aux initiatives artistiques du monde entier. Sous-titré « panorama des musiques électroniques », « Nuits sonores », permet à l’association Arty-Farty d’inscrire son action dans un réseau national et international, notamment à travers « la Carte blanche », attribuée en 2003 à Marseille, en 2004 à Barcelone, en 2005 à Manchester, en 2006 à Paris, en 2007 à Berlin et en 2008 à Londres. Le festival « Nuits sonores » rassemble quelque 15 000 personnes en 2003, plus de 29 000 en 2004, 36 000 en 2005, 47 600 en 2006, 50 000 en 2007, 55 000 en 2008 et enfin plus de 65 000 pour sa septième édition. Cette volonté de multiplier les collaborations se manifeste également, en France et en Europe, par la mise en œuvre de projets communs avec certaines institutions culturelles (Palais de Tokyo à Paris, Subsistances et Biennales d’art contemporain et de la danse à Lyon, Jazz à Vienne, Sonar à Barcelone, Montreux Jazz, Ambronnay…).... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.. .. ..In 2003 the association organised the first edition of the Nuits sonores festival and succeeded in merging sharp, emergent music styles with more popular trends. Among the essential axes of development of the festival : the research for unpublished and symbolic places of the architectural heritage of Lyon, the collaboration with numerous local actors of the electronic and innovative cultures, the opening of the city to creators and initiatives of the whole world. More than 250 artists play each year at the Nuits sonores festival : from the most symbolic and international artists of the electronic music's history to the most emergent musicians. In 2009 the Nuits sonores festival gathered more than 65,000 people, of whom more than 250 journalists and almost 1,000 accredited professionals.
