Piercardin is a french expatriate. Better, a world citizen. After his trip in Australia in 2008, he lives now in Barcelona and will move to Montreal in a few months. Proud of his origins, he also wants to discover new cultures, because it’s from there where comes his inspiration. Piercardin’s history begins in the early 90’s :
“I have been into music, and more particularly into djing since my childhood. I was always behind my cousin Fab from Toulouse, when he was playing at home or at famous “Besame Mucho” in Toulouse, when I came for my school holidays. I desired more and more to get my own turntables, until I bought my first cheap turntables in 2001. I played my first vinyls in my tiny student studio in Toulouse, looking for my own musical identity. Then I discovered the hip hop universe during my studies in Tarbes thanks to Max aka “Roulban”. We spent together entire nights to scratch and doing “Pass-pass” or watching videos of Dj Qbert playing at the DMC championships.
One of my first night as a dj was in Carpe Diem club in Tarbes, during a student party. Then I was invited by Fab to play at the Besame, renamed “Zoodrome”. Then I played in various places as an “unknown-little-dj-paid-a-misery”, le “Beaucoup” or “le Voleur de Poules” in Toulouse, the residencies of our “Chemistric” crew (RIP) at “La Maizon” and l’ “Ile enchantée” in Paris. By the greatest chance, I played at the VIP Room in Paris, anonymous and for free of course. This one is a funny story I keep for myself. ;)
Fed up with being paid 50 euros the night, I was really intrigued and attracted by the other side of music, production. I was even more intrigued, by watching Burnsfield, one of the member of “Chemistric”, always more into production than djing. Then I got my first version of Ableton Live plus the cheapest midi controller, a two-octaves keyboard. I edited my first patterns in my really small appartment in Paris and I left my dj “carrier” behind me. I was sick of playing in crappy places for nothing, most of the time empty places.
Since 2004, I have a lot improved my sound, extended my home studio and released my very first EP on System Recordings in october 2010. Then a few weeks later I released a remix for James Silk on the small german label Polished Audio.
I have finally found my own identity, a deep and melancholic music, based on percussive rythms. A music inspired by Deeper Shades of House and Compost Black label sessions. Also by artists such as fred Everything or Kerri Chandler, Deep House scene in California, huge berlin scene and of course our international Laurent Garnier !”
2010 was a great year with his first releases and his collaborations with Phill Dirty from Serbia and his mate Ryzi from Australia. 2011 will be a serious year, he will work harder to propose some quality stuff, you will hear Piercardin as a serious international dj and producer !
