Punish Yourself (“Cult Movie”, “Pink Panther Party”…) and Sonic Area (“Insensé”, “Explore”) probably had this in mind when they decided to join forces on a common record. .. .. “Phenomedia” is not a classic split-album, or a collection of mutual remixes, but a full fusion of both musical universes - resulting in completely exclusive tracks, going far ahead of anything you would expect. Influenced by Hint, Download, Clint Mansell, Foetus, Coil or The Downward Spiral, but mostly by the hypnotic power of mass media, Arco (Sonic Area’s mastermind) and vx “cheerleader” (PY singer and programmer) tried to break all stylistic boundaries and restrictions, in a merciless attempt to decipher the “Real World” or at least give some aural image of his morbid complexity. .. .. Dense, nervous, sometimes hard to describe, “Phenomedia” mixes cinematic orchestral atmospheres, dirty hip-hop, tribal industrial techno-punk, brutal wall of sounds, hard-glitch breaks and lush ambient soundscapes – and if you think it’s too much, you’re probably right ! This is a shamelessly noisy freaks parade announcing the “Nightmare Before Apocalypse” : acid bass lines, explicit TV sampling, screaming saxophones, broken drum machines collapsing into moody organic percussions, melancholic piano arpeggios and cello, distorted blues guitar, suicide lullabies, whispers, incantations, rants… This is hard cut-up music for chaos lovers, topped with broken bits of post-industrial mythology – the Roswell Alien, Kurt Cobain, Elvis Presley, Hakim Bey, Nikola Tesla, Jim Jones, Timothy Leary, JF Kennedy and many more unwilling guests. .. .. Do you feel like you’re part of a media-traumatized generation ? .. Do you feel addicted to the continuous stroboscopic flow of information, entertainment, spiritual promises and advertisement delivered by TV, the internet, movies, radio ? .. .. Is channel/net-surfing/scanning/hopping your favourite killing-time drug ? .. Do you feel like nothing is good enough, real enough, awesome enough for you ? .. .. How can you spend more than twenty seconds of your precious attention span if this record is just another product of the music industry ? .. Who’s the next scapegoat ? Who’s the next star ? Who’s the next Guru ? .. Who’s the next Prophet ? What’s the next distraction ? What’s the next thrill ? What’s the next reason to believe in something ? Should you buy a new laptop ? What should you fight for? Money ? Power ? Disorder ? .. .. Put the remote down and try Phenomedia. Welcome to one of the most innovative, esoteric, poetic and pessimistic cyberpunk album ever recorded !!!.. .. .. .. ..Est ce que le slogan "Unis, nous tenons, divisez, nous tombons !", vous dit quelque chose ? .. .. Punish Yourself (“Cult Movie”, “Pink Panther Party”…) et Sonic Area (“Insensé”, “Explore”) avaient sans doute ca en tete quand ils ont decidé de bosser ensemble sur la création d'un disque. .. .. PHENOMEDIA n'est pas un split album classique, ou une collection de remixes, mais une fusion complete des deux univers musicales - il en resulte des tracks completement exclusives, qui vont bien plus loin que ce à quoi vous pourriez vous attendre. Influencés par Hint, Download, Clint Mansell, Foetus, Coil ou The Downward Spiral, mais principalement par le pouvoir hypnotique des medias de masses, Arco (Sonic Area) et vx “cheerleader” (chanteur et machine de PY) ont tenté d'exploser toutes les frontieres et les restrictions stylistiques, dans un essai sans pitié pour decrypter le "Monde Réel" ou du moins nous donner une image sonore de sa complexité morbide. .. .. Dense, nerveux, parfois dur à décrire, PHENOMEDIA mélange les atmosphères orchestrales cinématiques, le hip hop dégueulasse, le tribal industrial techno-punk, des murs de sons brutaux, des cassures hardglitch avec des ambiences riches - et si vous pensez que c'est trop, vous avez probablement raison ! C'est une parade de freaks bruyants annconcant le "cauchemar avant l'apocalypse" : Des lignes de basses acid, des samples de TV explicites, des saxo hurlants, des beats electro se fondant avec des percussions organiques, des arpèges mélancoliques de piano et de violons, des guitares blues distordues, des berceuses malsaines, des chuchotements, des incantations, des déclamations... C'est un cutting violent pour les amoureux du chaos, rehaussé de fragments de la mythologie post industrielle - l'alien de Roswell, Kurt Cobain, Elvis Presley, Hakim Bey, Nikola Tesla, Jim Jones, Timothy Leary, JF Kennedy, et beaucoup d'autres invités inattendus. .. .. Vous sentez vous faire partie de la génération traumatisée par les médias ?.. Vous sentez vous dépendant du flux stroboscopique continu d'information, de divertissement, de promesses spirituelles et politiques délivrés par la télévision, internet, les films et la radio ? .. .. Est ce que le zapping/surfing des chaines et des programmes fait partie de vos drogues préférés pour tuer le temps ? .. Est ce vous avez l'impression que rien n'est assez bon, assez vrais, assez "awsome" pour vous ? .. .. Pourquoi gaspilleriez vous encore 20 secondes de votre precieux temps si ce disque n'est qu'un autre produit de l'industrie du disque ? .. .. Qui est le prochain bouc émissaire ? Qui est la prochaine Star ? Qui est le prochain Gourou ? Qui est le prochain Prophete ? Quelle est la prochaine distraction ? Quel est le prochain frisson ? Quelle est la prochaine raison de croire en quelque chose ? Devez vous vous acheter un nouveau portable ? Pourquoi est-ce que vous vous battez ? L'argent ? Le pouvoir ? Le désordre ? .. ..
